ARMENOPHOBIA, 2020 - ongoing…

2020 was a particularly hard year for ethnic Armenians when during a global pandemic and in the middle of a freezing winter, their neighbor Azerbaijan began a 44-day war to recapture the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karapagh (Artsakh). This series highlights in stark detail the Armenophobic rhetoric rampant in Azerbaijani society that is allowed to proliferate on the world stage amidst a global socio-political atmosphere that thrives on the multi-billion dollar exchange of champagne caviar and oil oligarchy (see: Azerbaijan Money Laundering Scheme.) The racist language spewed by the Azeri propaganda machine and repeated by countless Azeri civilians is shocking, saddening and so perverse that it becomes absurd. Armenians all over the world continue to call out Azerbaijan’s ethnic cleansing and cultural erasure policies, but to no avail. The world remains deaf and silent. The theatre of the absurd, in meme form, here for mindless consumption. Will the message ever get across?
